These police actions are largely about intimidation, with the militarized riot gear (which they definitely will use) and about wearing the crowds down. The media, business, government, everyone who's invested in keeping
society the same, wears revolutionary movements down through public opinion and various strategies of division. The cops' role in Portland is to wait the crowds out and wear them down physically, in a "nice" way, and pick off the small groups of angry, uncooperative people who show too much defiance - those are "bad" protesters. They're so fucking proud of their "restraint", which is being trumpeted in all of the media, the fact that they didn't use tear gas or rubber bullets like they are doing in other cities. It's all part of the molding of public opinion by the elites. ---Jim Miller
